Remove the radio
On the Land Rover Discovery, Defender and Freelander the radio is accessible by dismantling the centre console panel. For the Range Rover (from L322) the radio is behind a separate cover plate with Torx screws.

Read the serial number
The serial number is on the label on the side or top of the radio. For Visteon radios it starts with M or V (e.g. M123456). Note it down in full.
